I think the senate if operating how it supposed to be is an important part of the political process acting as a sober second thought. Nowadays, its position has been compromised by ‘friendly’ appointments and financial ones, but ideally a vital part to the political process. I think the new GG appointment was a smart one because of the rise in Quebec soverignty movement. I think old Paul thinks this will help smooth relations. I think all in all a smart decision as she is young, bright, poised, and could be a good stooge. The media is making a big deal out of her being black, but I think it is a smart appointment.
